Meet Emile Mulholland!

After 14 super fun and amazing summers, we're thrilled to announce the passing of the Fairfax Cycling Camp torch to our friend, Emile Mulholland! Emile (read more here) has a unique set of experiences and skills, as well as being a kind and good person - we think he's the perfect person and can't wait to collaborate with him during this transition.

The son and grandson of educators, Emile was born and raised in Ross Valley and West Marin. He has had a life-long involvement in cycling, fostered by his father, who was a cycling journalist in the 1980's, who took Emile to watch the Tour de France (in France!) as a child. Shortly after graduating from high school, Emile helped create the storied Drake/Archie Williams mountain bike team, before going on to UC Santa Cruz and graduating with a degree in Environmental Studies. He had considerable success racing on the roads and trails before becoming a coach himself.

Emile has been leading after school rides, summer camps, and overnight trips for years. As a proud girl dad  to two young girls, both public school students in the Ross Valley School District, Emile has taken a special interest in promoting girls' cycling, and takes particular joy in leading after school rides for his daughter and her friends. Emile is married to an elementary school teacher, so we know his family keeps children's development in mind, even when shredding the gnar!

We are beyond delighted to share with Emile what makes FXCC special, and we know that he is the person to take FXCC to the next level!

Mitch will be working Week 1, and will be popping by from time-to-time. We expect that camp will remain the magical experience you and your camper have known it to be. Click here to read more and register. We offer an early bird discount until April 15th again this year.

Summer 2023 Registration Now Open!

These two notes have been on the wall since last summer. They are powerful reminders, and we like to look at them. When we started this camp over ten years ago, we set out to blend our love of biking with our experience as educators and parents. We hoped to get more kids on bikes, and more kids feeling confident and independent, all within a developmentally appropriate, safe and kind community on wheels. We are humbled and grateful that Fairfax Cycling Camp has touched so many young folks and their families, and are excited to recreate that magic again this summer!

If you’d like your child to experience some FXCC magic this summer, click here to go to our information page and register.

Summer 2023 will be our fourth year operating during the COVID pandemic, and while we still have some modifications in place, we are almost back to pre-pandemic normal. One soft and comfy camper t-shirt and snacks included. Lunches will be available to pre-order at a later date, but stay tuned!

Bicycles Change Lives (2)

We came across this awesome, inspiring video yesterday about the East Side Riders Bike Club, "a volunteer organization in South Central Los Angeles with a mission to improve Watts through community service, charity work, and bike programs aimed at keeping local youth out of gang activity."

This all-volunteer, grassroots group teaches kids how to bike safely, provides helmets, teaches bike repair, and leads weekly rides. Please take a minute to watch the video, and show it to your kids. Their Facebook page is full of videos of their Friday night rides, bike repair classes and more. Consider a donation or purchasing some of their cool swag to support their critical work.

World Bicycle Relief is an organization which supports folks in the developing world through the transformative power of the bicycle. Click here to read more about them, and to watch the moving video about Tamara, a 12-year-old orphan who received a bicycle so she could complete her education. Consider a donation by clicking the red button at the top of their homepage.

Win 1 Week of Camp + Support Kids

We are proud to be YES Business Partners and donors to the online auction again this year (in addition to the 4 weeks of camp we have donated elsewhere this year).

YES supports funding for arts programming (among other things) in the Ross Valley School District, which we are proud to stand behind. We believe art, music and PE are critical aspects of education for all children.

Pink Bike is tallying votes for the 2016 photo of the year, and our very own former counselor, Satchel Cronk, has a photo in the running! If you never had the pleasure of riding with Satchel, you still know his work from our website. He took most of the pictures you see, as well as our small film. He's a very talented photog and an all-around great guy.
